Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 16, 2026

FreshAlert ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. It applies to our website, our fridge-mounted device, and the FreshAlert mobile app (together, the "Services").

1. Information we collect

  • Account info, the email address and first name you provide when you sign up for early access or newsletter updates.
  • Survey responses, the answers you give to our pre-launch survey, used only to shape the product.
  • Contact form content, the name, email, subject, and message you send us.
  • Technical data, basic metadata such as your browser user-agent and the page referrer. We do not use third-party advertising trackers on the marketing site.
  • Device & app data (post-launch), once FreshAlert launches, the device and app will process grocery inventory and expiry data locally. Only the minimum data needed to deliver recall alerts leaves your household, and never for advertising.

2. How we use your information

  • To send you early-access invites and occasional product updates you opted into.
  • To respond to your contact-form messages.
  • To improve the product, using aggregated or anonymized survey responses.
  • To match your groceries against FDA and USDA recall feeds (once launched).

We never sell your personal information. We never share your email with advertisers.

3. Where your data lives

Sign-up and contact records are stored in Supabase, a reputable cloud database provider, with encryption in transit and at rest. Access is limited to the FreshAlert team.

4. Your rights

  • Access: ask what data we hold about you.
  • Correction: ask us to fix inaccurate data.
  • Deletion: ask us to permanently remove your data.
  • Unsubscribe: every marketing email has a one-click unsubscribe link.

Residents of California (CCPA/CPRA), the EU/UK (GDPR), and other regions with data-protection laws have the rights those laws grant. Send requests to freshalert.support@gmail.com.

5. California AB 660 & food-date transparency

FreshAlert is built to surface clear, standardized "Best If Used By" and "Use By" dates as required under California's AB 660. The device does not transmit your grocery list to retailers, manufacturers, or any third party.

6. Cookies

The marketing site uses only strictly-necessary storage (e.g. a sessionStorage flag so the survey pop-up doesn't reappear during the same visit). No third-party advertising or analytics cookies.

7. Children

FreshAlert is designed for adult household members. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

8. Changes to this policy

We'll post any material changes here and, if you're on our list, email you. The "Last updated" date at the top tells you when the policy was last revised.
